STRANGELY AWESOME WEEKEND

I didn’t have any plans for the weekend. I was expecting for just another boring weekend, sitting around and watching TV, but everything changed as a phone call from Bri woke me up on Friday morning. She is coming home later in the afternoon along with the twins, Shannon and josh and she wants me to pick them up from the bus stand. The news left me speechless. I can’t believe that my best teen-aged buddies and my first English teachers are coming home. I haven’t seen them since I was forced to move to Virginia about two years ago just a few days before they went away to college (OSWEGO). Anyways, I got to the bus terminal about forty minutes earlier than the scheduled time for their bus to arrive. I was so exited that I couldn’t sit still. They finally arrived and we headed for home. On the way we planned our entire weekend together, nothing new the same old usual stuff, camping (even though it was kind of cold), rock climbing and skydiving if we all agree. Next morning we left home for the state park at early in the Saturday morning to put our tents up and from there we headed for the long island skydiving center. We had great time there. Bri and Shannon had to jump with instructors since it was first diving for them, but josh and I had done it before so we jumped on our own. It was fun even though Shannon was scared to death and Bri cried out of fear. She kept quiet all the way back home as we made fun of her. We picked up some food on the way and headed for the state park to our tents. We set up a small fire between the tents and we ate our dinner. We ran around the park like we were teen-agers again. We sat on the grass outside the tents around the fire and talked till about three or four am until it got chilly. I realized none of us has changed at all as we shared lots of stories, jokes and memories. Bri still has our prom pictures. The two years of distance didn’t seem to cause any damps between our friendships at all, Infect it seemed got even stronger. Even Bri didn’t have any problem sharing the same tents with me just like the old days. We shared same tent and same bed so many times before that we don’t even remember. Anyways, the next morning we headed for our houses to spend some time with families until I drive them to the bus stop. I joined Bri and her family for dinner then we took off to pick up the twins. The bus was waiting on the platform as we pulled in to the stand. I helped them caring the baggage’s to the bus. I had to take off since it was time for the bus to leave. I stepped out of the bus and waited till the bus left. I noticed drops of tears on Bris eyes as she looked out side for the last time before the bus disappeared around the corner. I stood still on the platform and kept thinking about the past two days. We all are still the same yet we are different. I noticed changes on Bri. Is she holding on to us? Well there was never such a thing called as us. We never even have gone on a date except for her prom night. Well it wasn’t even a date; I went only because her prom date got canceled just couple of hours before the prom. I wonder, was it true that Tim canceled on her or she tricked me to go, since I didn’t want to go to the prom with her because I wasn’t attending school. Whatever it was, we had awesome time together. I noticed that I had a text message as I walked back into the car. It was from Bri saying, “bye and don’t worry, I will be back soon”!! I wonder, is it just a consolation to a friend or a request? Is it a request to wait? I don’t know what it is, but I like it.

"Fallen Stars"

We all have witnessed the great events of falling stars or some of us prefer to call it shooting stars in some parts of our lives more than once. These events are awesome. It wouldnt be too hard to find a person who has never witnessed one. We watch the falling of stars amaizingly and think how fascinating those events are. Well certainly they are. Ok those are the stars from the sky but has anyone ever witnessed the falling of shining stars from among us? I am talking about friends or family members of our own. Purhaps some of you have purhaps not! I have witnessed the falling of loved onec from very close.
I met the C family when i worked at the apple beez on route 23. The C family was one of the families who were there every weekend. There were Ashley, Natalie, Rob jr and their father Rob the great ( who helped me thru my USSRL 2007 as well as taught me great lessons about soccer)! Anyways, they used to come for dinner every Saturdays and Sundays after soccer practice. The entire C family was into sports. The mother was a gymnestic teacher, the father used to referee at the local boys soccer league and Ashley, Natalie and Rob were the valuable members of the local boys and girls soccer club. I made friends with them very quick since i am soo much into sports too. Oneday they asked me to come soccer practice with them and thats how little by little i became very close to the C family. Almost like one of the family members, well close enough to make it to the family photo album. The C family was the happiest family i had ever met, until their oldest daughter Ashley, who past away just few days ago from over dosing on drugs while she was pregnent, got mixed up with drugs because of one stupid but big family issue. I am sure whatever it was, it could have been resolved but i guess to her it wasnt as light as it was to me. She had taken it very hard and was doing more and more drugs everyday. She got soo into drugs that in one point she left the house and moved in with the guy who she used to get drugs from. That guy wasnt even her boyfriend. Anywyas, she only didnt bring herself down, she also destroyed Natalie(who commited suicide) and Rob jr( who had become the scariest drug supllier of all). Their parents got divorced. No one knows where Rob is and Mrs Rob got dumped by the guy she was foolling around with. All my effords of trying helping them get back into normal life went worthless. I couldnt do anything but watched them going down one after another. The stars that were shining as bright as the real stars up in the sky had gone down in rite front of my very eyes and i just watched them faded away helplesly.
